Barbados National Age Group Champions Head to XIX CAC Youth Chess Championships in Central America with Record 360 Players Participating

Barbados National Age Group Champions compete in the XIX CAC Youth Chess Championships in San Salvador, with a record 360 players from 16 countries participating in various age categories.
A 15-player contingent comprising the who’s who of Barbados National Age Group Champions has departed for Central America, to participate in the XIX Central American & Caribbean (CAC) Youth Chess Championships.
This year a record 360 players from 16 countries have registered for the championships, which will be played over nine rounds, from August 2-7, at the Best Western Plus Hotel Terrace in San Salvador, El Salvador.
The competition will be held in 12 male and female age categories ranging from Under-8 to Under-18. Barbados, for the first time, will have competitors in each category.
Making their debuts for Barbados will be Raef Clarke, the youngest member of the team at five years old, in Boys U-8, Diasha-Rose Parris in Girls U-8, Jeremiah Farley and Sameera Jaikaran in Boys and Girls Under-10, Darren Toppin in Boys Under-12, Noah Clarke and Naomi Lewis in Boys and Girls Under-14, and Nathan Griffith in Boys U-18.
Playing their second CAC Youth are Janiyah Browne and Jaeda Herbert in the Girls U-10 and U-12, Chaz Reifer-Belle in the Boys U-12, Mileke Sinckler and Aaron Jaikaran in the Boys U-14.
The 2023 CAC U-16 Girls Gold Medalist and Barbados Junior Sports Personality of the Year, Woman Candidate Master Hannah Wilson will fly the Bajan colours in the Girls U18.
2023 CAC U-14 Bronze Medalist and Woman Candidate Master Channon Reifer-Belle will be looking to make an impression in the Girls U-16 category.
Morning matches start at 11:30 am Barbados time and the evening games at 6:00 pm Barbados time.
