Daniel Ullyett Holds Lead in Barbados Karting Association's Driver's Title Race

October 4, 2023
Daniel Ullyett is currently leading the Barbados Karting Association's driver's title by a slim 14 point lead, with an exciting finale scheduled for November 5.
Daniel Ullyett has one hand on the Barbados Karting Association’s (BKA) driver’s title.
Despite a scintillating performance by reigning champion driver Calem Maloney, who claimed a maximum 100 points for the third time this season during Sunday’s Glassesco Raceday at Bushy Park, Ullyett headed into next month’s final round with a slim 14 point lead over Maloney and previous leader Blake Thompson.
It sets the stage for an exciting finale on November 5, with Ullyett (501 points), and Maloney and Thompson, who both have 487 points, capable of winning the Sectus Technologies Championship.
Even though qualifying and the first two races ran in the wet, Ullyett easily won the first 100cc Easykart Juniors race but traded the lead with Raizer Stoute before winning the second. Stoute, however, won two hotly-contested battles in the dry.
With one second and three third-place finishes, Thompson scored less than both Ullyett and Maloney for the first time this year.
Calem Maloney won only two of the four 125cc Easykart Lights races, as he battled with his brother Zane Maloney, who is on a break from his FIA Formula 2 campaign, but the Red Bull junior driver did not receive any points. Colin Bradshaw, Sebastian Thompson and Aaron Blackett shared the remainder of the points, while Mark Thompson, alone in 125cc Masters again, elected to run without points and reduce weight.
Honours were shared in the 60cc Cadet class, with Zak Mayers winning the first and last races of the day to move up to fifth in the overall leader board and increase his lead in the class to 28 points. His cousin Jacob, who won the second race, has now moved ahead of Aeden Bruce, who beat the Mayers cousins in the day’s third encounter after suffering disqualification from races one and two for being underweight.
