Renaissance Frolic Eyes Three-Peat in Gordon Lewis Memorial Handicap at Garrison Savannah

The Sir David Seale owned Renaissance Frolic will be going after a three-peat of wins at the mile trip of 1570 meters in the Gordon Lewis Memorial Handicap at the Garrison Savannah on Saturday

The featured race will for the top-rated horses 140 to 122 will have a purse of $22 000 and is scheduled to run off at 5 30 p.m., the final race on the 8-race card.

The 9-year-old Andrew Nunes-trained Renaissance Frolic made it a pillar to post victory in the J B Simpson Classic on Independenc,e Day at 1570 meters last year in exciting fashion fending off a late running So Suave to score his first victory since arriving in Barbados.

Confidently ridden by jockey Rey Williams, Renaissance Frolic returned three weeks later to win the Boxing Day Trophy ahead of Vividly at the same trip.

Renaissance Frolic will once again have Williams in the saddle at 123 pounds and will run from Gate 3.

Irish bred 7-year-old horse So Suave is the only horse to defeat Renaissance Frolic at 1570-meters. He did so by winning The Pride of Barbados Trophy on August 1 last year.

So Suave blew past Renaissance Frolic, who was in the lead, on his way to leaving Vividly and stablemates Zeeko and Zaeed in his wake.

So Suave will have Anderson Trotman onboard at 128 pounds.

Runner up in last year’s Gordon Lewis Handicap, Zaeed justified his status as the best sprinter in Barbados after taking this year’s Sandy Lane Spa Sprint.

Zaeed finished second behind Zeeko in last year’s Gordon Lewis and will be looking for a seventh win in 14 career starts.

Rickey Walcott has the ride at 127 pounds.

Sir Jimmy, owned by AA Racing team, was a winner on January 6 this year at 1100 meters and is coming off a fifth place finish in the Spa Sprint.

The Richard Deane-trained chestnut gelding could be up with the early leaders in the contest and is one to keep a close eye on.

Eric Daniel has the ride on at 110 pounds.

Masaru completes the field.
