Barbados Bracing for Impact: Tropical Wave Forecasted to Bring Heavy Rainfall, Strong Winds, and Marine Disruption on Wednesday

July 1, 2024
Barbados faces potential heavy rainfall, strong winds, and rough seas due to an approaching tropical wave. The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring the system's movement towards the island.
Barbados is likely to experience excessive rainfall, gusty winds and a deterioration of marine conditions on Wednesday as a result of a tropical wave expected to affect the island.
The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) said it was monitoring the topical wave located about 1 200 miles to the east of the island, moving westward at 15 to 20 miles per hour at 4 p.m.
“This tropical wave has an associated area of low pressure. The feature is currently poorly organised. Over the next few days, environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for some slow development as the wave tracks westwards across the Atlantic and is expected to be a strong tropical wave when it moves into our area,” it said.
The system is separate and distinct from Hurricane Beryl which passed the island late Sunday into Monday.
