Barbados Meteorological Services issues a severe Thunderstorm Watch due to a tropical wave causing significant thunderstorm activity. Public warned of potential power outages and life-threatening lightning strikes. Watch to be updated at midnight, August 5th, 2024.
The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) has issued a severe Thunderstorm Watch for the island.
According to the BMS, unstable conditions associated with a tropical wave is generating significant thunderstorm activity. This activity is expected to affect the island throughout the early portion of the night.
The forecasters advised that lighting activity at or near your location could result in power outages if lighting strikes power utility infrastructure. The BMS reminds the public that lightning strikes can be life-threatening.
