“I was coming home from an Old Year’s Night gig on January 1st last year, and being extremely tired, I fell asleep at the wheel. I remember driving through Broad Street and thinking ‘I feel real tired’. What I would normally do in a case like that if I am very tired is I pull over, but being that I was in town, I said let me try and make it to Bay Street, and the next thing I opened my eyes and I saw a big grey wall in front of me. I mashed the brake, and at the same time my leg was extended on the brake is when I hit. So, while the damage to my car was minimal since I wasn’t driving fast, because I had my leg extended, the impact pushed my hip out of the socket. So, basically, I had a broken hip.
“After checking around to make sure nobody else was involved and that I was okay physically – because I felt myself; I didn’t feel any pain – I was very disappointed I hit the car. So, when I got out of the car to stand up, my leg basically was going from under me.” (NTE)
