Convicted Campus Trendz Killer's Resentencing Hearing to Resume Next Week

June 15, 2024
The re-sentencing hearing for convicted Campus Trendz killer Jamar Dewayne Bynoe, found guilty of murdering six women in 2010, resumes next week before Justice Michelle Weekes. Legal representatives are Senior Counsel Andrew Pilgrim, attorney Sian Lange, and Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Alliston Seale, SC.
Submissions will continue next week when the re-sentencing hearing of convicted Campus Trendz killer Jamar Dewayne Bynoe resumes before Justice Michelle Weekes.
Bynoe, formerly of Headley’s Land, Bank Hall, St Michael, was found guilty, in July 2016, for the murder of six women – Shanna Griffith, Kelly-Ann Welch, Pearl Cornelius, Kellishaw Olivierre, Nikita Belgrave and Tiffany Harding – in the Campus Trendz blaze on September 3, 2010.
He had been ordered hanged for his actions but appealed his sentence and conviction. The Court of Appeal told him it had found no merit in the grounds and upheld the conviction.
However, the Court of Appeal said since the mandatory sentence of death had been removed, that sentence would be vacated and the court would be remitting Bynoe’s matter back to the High Court judge, who presided over the trial, for him to be re-sentenced.
Senior Counsel Andrew Pilgrim and attorney Sian Lange are representing Bynoe, while Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Alliston Seale, SC, is representing the state.
Justice Michelle Weekes adjourned the matter until June 20. (HLE)
