Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) Contract Workers Face Salary Delay Issue

August 14, 2024
CBC contract workers informed of July salary delay, citing ongoing payment issues and stress on employees. Concerns raised over delayed payments and impact on workers' financial stability.
Contract workers of the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation ( CBC) were yesterday told via official correspondence their salary for July would be delayed.
While the corporation says it is “actively working” to address this, at least one worker who spoke to the MIDWEEK NATION on condition of anonymity said this type of employment relationship placed great stress on workers.
“This is a problem with CBC in recent time. People passed away, people retired but they are [still] keeping people on contract . . . ,” he said.
“They pay late almost every month. We should be paid within seven to 14 business days but we are paid between the 12th to 15th of the following month.
“People have commitments. The little savings you are able to put aside – which isn’t easy – you have to touch that now to get through the month and cover commitments.” (SAT)
